20 Items to Kick Start Your Food Storage Plan

A list of twenty staples for you to obtain to begin storing a supply of food in case of an emergency or natural disaster (hurricane, earthquake, tornado).  Now, why the author decided to include a flashlight and batteries on a list of twenty food items I don't know, but the rest of the list is a good place to  start.  Especially if you like all of the foods on this list.

I would add to item 18 and say that you should also stock up on some hot chocolate (if it gets cold where you live) because it is a great comfort beverage, especially for kids.

I would also add mashed potato flakes to this list.  It doesn't have to be made into mashed potatoes, it can also be used to thicken a soup and make it a bit more substantial.

Another item to add, actually I would include it with the Spaghetti Sauce, is cans jars of salsa. (Salsa is way more than a condiment to destroy nachos with.)  It is an easy way to add a variety of veggies and some spice to meals.  You could try adding salsa to rice and canned chicken with some of the beans for a flavorful dish to break up the monotony.  You could even use it to make spaghetti sauce.
